“How important is Egypt throughout the ages?”
Egypt has been a centre of power throughout history, and its capitals, as centres of government, have had a significant influence on world events.
Some may argue that Egypt was of great importance at the dawn of civilization. To provide a visual understanding of where the historical influence of Egypt’s capitals has been, this project implements interactive visual tools. These storytelling tools help explore each capital and relate its location on the map from its earliest beginnings to the present day, in a unique and engaging educational experience.
To illustrate the historical evolution of civilizations, the effective and engaging approach was to investigate the migration of their respective capitals from one nation to another. Additionally, it was worthwhile to focus on civilizations that established their capitals in Egypt, as they were prevalent in ancient times.
The first artefact was built using StoryMap to take the viewer on a journey of how the different civilizations moved the capital throughout the ages.
For the second artefact, Timeline was selected as a method to encourage users to interact with it, learn more about it, and even possibly migrate the entire experience to a large screen in the museum, introducing a true sense of interactivity.
